Barely 2 miles outside Criccieth we are ideally situated for a holiday visiting the numerous attractions of both Snowdonia and the Lleyn Peninsula.

Within half an hours drive of your holiday cottage there are plenty of things to see and do. Venture further afield and even a day trip to Ireland is possible!

We've listed some highlights here to give you some ideas on places to visit on your holiday.

Top of the list for many must be the famous Italiante village of Portmeirion, only a 15 minute drive away. Here you can wander the lovely gardens, browse in the shops or enjoy a fabulous meal in the Hotel at the waters edge.

As well as nearby Criccieth Castle, both Caernarfon and Harlech castles are well worth a visit, and you can spend the rest of the day in either town exploring. The harbour area in Caernarfon is a great place to go crabbing with the kids and as well as the great beach at Harlech the town has lots of interesting little shops.

The Rabbit Farm at nearby Llanystumdwy is about 4 miles away and a great place to take younger children, and afterwards visit the excellent Lloyd George museum in the village, then stroll towards the river to visit his grave. For the older children and teenagers there is a great paintballing place at nearby Talhenbont Hall and from this summer you can have a go on a segway there as well.

Also great fun for the whole family is a visit to Glasfryn Parc, there are plenty of activities for everyone here, go-karting, quad biking or bowling. Don't miss the award-winning farm shop where you can choose from a variety of local meat for your evening BBQ at Glas-y-Dorlan holiday cottage.
